Every letter and digit is prefixed by one of nineteen astrological symbols — the twelve zodiac signs plus seven celestial bodies — cycling in a fixed order: astro → ♒a♑s♒t♐r♍o, 100 → ♉1♈0♈0. Spaces and punctuation are left as typed.

How the Nineteen-Symbol Cycle Works

The set is larger than the zodiac alone. Nineteen symbols cycle in a fixed order — ♒ ♓ ☉ ☽ ☿ ♀ ♂ ♃ ♄ ♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ — which is the twelve signs from Aries to Pisces plus seven celestial bodies: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

Each class of character enters the cycle at a different point, so the same word never looks like the same word in capitals. Lowercase starts at ♒, capitals at ♃, digits at ♈. The letter itself is never altered, which is why Leo comes back as ♑L☿e♍o rather than as three symbols — the reader still sees the word.

How to style it

1. Keep to 1–6 words so the sign rhythm stays clean.
2. Title Case or ALL-CAPS reads most “constellation board”; mixed case feels softer.
3. Use symbols or dividers (e.g., • / ✦) between words if the line feels busy.

A symbol already sits on every character, so the useful question is which controls add to that rather than compete with it.

• Separator is the one worth reaching for. The space is left untouched, so a chosen mark lands on the word gaps: moon night becomes ♋m♍o♍o♌n ✦ ♌n♄i♂g♃h♒t. With a symbol on every character, a plain break is what keeps two words apart.

Why Venus and Mars Are Not Called Venus and Mars

Five of the seven celestial symbols carry the name you would expect in the Unicode standard: ☉ is SUN, ☿ is MERCURY, ♃ is JUPITER, ♄ is SATURN, and ☽ is FIRST QUARTER MOON. The other two are named for something else entirely.

♀ is formally FEMALE SIGN and ♂ is MALE SIGN. They began as the alchemical and astrological marks for Venus and Mars — the mirror and the shield with its spear — and were borrowed into biology in the eighteenth century to mark sex in botanical descriptions. By the time Unicode named them, that borrowed use was the dominant one, so the standard recorded the newer meaning and left the older one implied.

Nothing changes in the output: the character is the same either way, and in an astrological line it reads as Venus and Mars because of the company it keeps. It is worth knowing if you ever search the standard for them, because looking up "Venus" will not find ♀.

Nineteen of Fifty-Five

This cycle uses nineteen symbols, which is a deliberate subset rather than the whole vocabulary. The outer planets are not in it — Uranus, Neptune and Pluto have no place in the rotation, and neither does Ophiuchus, the thirteenth constellation that some systems add.

What It Costs to Paste

Every character comes back as two, so length doubles: a 32-character Discord username holds sixteen letters. The symbols are three UTF-8 bytes each, which makes Hello travel as 20 bytes rather than 5 — worth checking against any field that counts bytes instead of characters.

Search is the other trade. ♍H☿e♊l♊l♍o is not the string Hello, so a hashtag or a search box will not match it. Good where a person reads the line; poor where software has to find it.
