Glitch Text Overview

Six marks on every character: v̵̺̻̈̊́ö̵̺̻̊́ï̵̺̻̊́d̵̺̻̈̊́. Always the same six — no intensity dial.

Symbols and patterns are added to your input text. Wrap, separator, and mix font modify the output.

The glitch text generator stacks six combining marks onto every character, so glitch becomes g̵̺̻̈̊́l̵̺̻̈̊́ï̵̺̻̊́ẗ̵̺̻̊́c̵̺̻̈̊́ḧ̵̺̻̊́. It is the same six every time — there is no intensity setting, and that uniformity is the thing to understand before you use it. Seven code points per character makes this the most expensive style on the site.

How the Glitch Text Generator Works

Unlike text generators that swap one letter for another, this one leaves the letter alone. Six combining characters from the Combining Diacritical Marks block are appended to each letter and digit: a stroke through the middle, a diaeresis, a ring, an acute accent, and two marks below. The base character is untouched — everything is stacked on top of and underneath it, which is why the text stays selectable and copyable while looking broken.

The look comes out of internet horror writing, where stacked Unicode characters stood in for something wrong with the signal. It spread from there to usernames and profile names, which is where most of it lives now.

There is no intensity control on this page. Every character receives the identical six marks, so the effect has exactly one setting. If you want it lighter you use fewer words, not a lighter setting.

Creative Uses for Glitch Text

  • Discord glitch name: Create weird text usernames like S̵̺̻̈̊́ḧ̵̺̻̊́ä̵̺̻̊́d̵̺̻̈̊́ö̵̺̻̊́ẅ̵̺̻̊́ or V̵̺̻̈̊́ö̵̺̻̊́ï̵̺̻̊́d̵̺̻̈̊́ that stand out in server member lists with corrupted text styling.
  • Roblox glitch text generator: Style your display name with glitchy text effects—turn ProGamer into P̵̺̻̈̊́r̵̺̻̈̊́ö̵̺̻̊́G̵̺̻̈̊́ä̵̺̻̊́m̵̺̻̈̊́ë̵̺̻̊́r̵̺̻̈̊́ that other players notice immediately.
  • Gaming profile weird fonts: Add glitch font effects to Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation usernames for an edgy aesthetic.
  • Horror content corrupted text: Transform DANGER into D̵̺̻̈̊́Ä̵̺̻̊́N̵̺̻̈̊́G̵̺̻̈̊́Ë̵̺̻̊́R̵̺̻̈̊́ for creepy stories, Halloween posts, or spooky content.
  • Social media glitch letters: Make Instagram bios demand attention—turn Follow Me into F̵̺̻̈̊́ö̵̺̻̊́l̵̺̻̈̊́l̵̺̻̈̊́ö̵̺̻̊́ẅ̵̺̻̊́ M̵̺̻̈̊́ë̵̺̻̊́ with strange text generator effects.
  • Meme odd text generator: Add chaotic energy to viral content with weird text overlays that amplify the humor.

Glitch Text Copy and Paste Examples

  • Short names: V̵̺̻̈̊́ö̵̺̻̊́ï̵̺̻̊́d̵̺̻̈̊́ | Ë̵̺̻̊́r̵̺̻̈̊́r̵̺̻̈̊́ö̵̺̻̊́r̵̺̻̈̊́ | N̵̺̻̈̊́ü̵̺̻̊́l̵̺̻̈̊́l̵̺̻̈̊́ — four or five letters is where it stays legible
  • All caps: D̵̺̻̈̊́Ä̵̺̻̊́N̵̺̻̈̊́G̵̺̻̈̊́Ë̵̺̻̊́R̵̺̻̈̊́ — capitals give the marks more room and read slightly cleaner
  • Two words: d̵̺̻̈̊́ë̵̺̻̊́ä̵̺̻̊́d̵̺̻̈̊́ s̵̺̻̈̊́ï̵̺̻̊́g̵̺̻̈̊́n̵̺̻̈̊́ä̵̺̻̊́l̵̺̻̈̊́ — the space is untouched, so the gap is the only clean thing in the line
  • What it looks like at length: ẗ̵̺̻̊́ḧ̵̺̻̊́ï̵̺̻̊́s̵̺̻̈̊́ ï̵̺̻̊́s̵̺̻̈̊́ ä̵̺̻̊́l̵̺̻̈̊́r̵̺̻̈̊́ë̵̺̻̊́ä̵̺̻̊́d̵̺̻̈̊́ÿ̵̺̻̊́ ẗ̵̺̻̊́ö̵̺̻̊́ö̵̺̻̊́ l̵̺̻̈̊́ö̵̺̻̊́n̵̺̻̈̊́g̵̺̻̈̊́

How to Use the Glitch Text Generator

Step 1: Enter your text in the input box above. The glitch text gen handles letters, numbers, and basic punctuation for your weird font generator needs.

Step 2: Watch instant transformation as the glitch generator converts your words into corrupted text with combining character overlays.

Step 3: copy the result. There is nothing to adjust — the transformation has one form.

Step 4: Use glitch text copy and paste to grab your glitch letters. Works everywhere—Discord, Roblox, Instagram, TikTok, and gaming platforms.

Which Toolbar Options Work With Glitch Text

The marks reach well above and below the line, so the practical question for each control is whether it survives being crowded.

꒰꒱ Wrap is the best fit because the frame sits outside the mess. ▓▒░ … ░▒▓ is a dither ramp that reads as signal degradation, and ┏━━ … ━━┛ gives a hard broadcast frame. Both are in the picker and index-matched.

✦ Symbol works on the same principle — one clean glyph beside broken text is striking because it is clean. The picker holds emoji, so ⚡ and 💀 are the ones in the right register; ⚠, ▲ and ◉ are not in it and would have to be typed.

• Separator is more useful than the old advice allowed. The marks bleed vertically and words run into each other, and the separator replaces word gaps — not the space between letters — so it gives the eye somewhere to rest. Pipe and Slash hold up best, being tall enough to survive the crowding. A middle dot would vanish, and is not among the 23 options anyway.

❋ Pattern adds emoji into a line that is already visually saturated, which is the one thing this style cannot absorb.

Aa Mix Font removes the effect rather than making it patchy. It restyles your selection in the input box, and a restyled letter is not one of the plain characters this map looks up, so it comes through with no marks at all.

⏰ Recent holds what you used last, 🖼 Export Image saves the line as PNG, JPG or WebP, and 🌫 Blur appears on this page — a separate tool that softens an image, so it pairs with an exported line rather than acting on the characters.

Keeping Glitch Text Usable

  • Balance glitch intensity: Heavy corrupted text becomes unreadable. Use maximum weird text sparingly for emphasis on key words.
  • Mix normal and glitchy text: Combine the glitchy text generator effect with regular text for contrast that guides attention.
  • Test on mobile: Smaller screens may display distorted text differently. Preview your glitch name on phone before committing.
  • Character limits: each character costs seven, so a name that looks like eight letters counts as fifty-six. This is the first thing that breaks on a platform with a short limit
  • Where it fails: fields that normalise text on save can reorder or strip combining marks, and fields with a length cap reject the string outright. Paste it into the actual destination before committing a name to it
  • Keep it short: Glitch letters work best in usernames, headers, and short phrases. Full paragraphs of corrupted text become exhausting to read.

Text, Not an Image

The reason to use this rather than a graphics effect is that the output is characters. It goes into a username, a display name, a bio or a chat message — places an image cannot reach — and stays selectable afterwards.

The reason not to is that it cannot animate and cannot be art-directed. A real glitch effect in a video or a thumbnail is made by displacing pixels: channel splits, scan-line offsets, frame tearing. None of that is available to a character, which can only carry marks that a font already knows how to draw.

It Is a Stamp, Not Corruption

This is the honest description of what the style does, and it explains why the result reads as decoration rather than damage.

Real corruption is irregular. When a file is damaged or a signal drops, no two characters break the same way — that unevenness is the whole visual signature. This applies the identical six marks to every character, so ä̵̺̻̊́ä̵̺̻̊́ä̵̺̻̊́ä̵̺̻̊́ is four copies of one stamp rather than four differently broken letters.

At a glance and at small sizes that reads fine, because the eye takes in texture before pattern. In a long run it stops working: the repetition becomes visible, and what looked like interference starts looking like a border.

Glitch Against Zalgo, Measured

The two styles get described as heavy and light versions of one another. Checked against the two maps, that is backwards on both counts.

Marks per characterDifferent mark-sets
Glitch (this page)6 — always1
Zalgo4 or 53

So Glitch is the heavier of the two per character, and Zalgo is the one that actually varies — three different mark-sets spread across the alphabet, which is what gives it an uneven look this page cannot produce. Neither has a chaos slider.

Put plainly: choose Glitch for a uniform, dense texture, and Zalgo when you want the letters to look like they broke independently.

What It Costs to Paste

More than anything else on this site. Every character becomes 7 code points — the letter plus six marks — so g̵̺̻̈̊́l̵̺̻̈̊́ï̵̺̻̊́ẗ̵̺̻̊́c̵̺̻̈̊́ḧ̵̺̻̊́ is six letters to a reader and 42 characters to a counter.

In bytes each mark costs two in UTF-8, so a glitched letter is thirteen bytes against one plain: g̵̺̻̈̊́l̵̺̻̈̊́ï̵̺̻̊́ẗ̵̺̻̊́c̵̺̻̈̊́ḧ̵̺̻̊́ travels as 78 bytes where glitch takes 6.

That is the practical ceiling on where this can go. A display name field with a short cap will refuse a glitched word of ordinary length, and a bio field will be full after a few. It is also why the effect belongs on one word rather than a phrase — not for taste, but because the budget runs out.

And g̵̺̻̈̊́l̵̺̻̈̊́ï̵̺̻̊́ẗ̵̺̻̊́c̵̺̻̈̊́ḧ̵̺̻̊́ is not the string glitch. Nothing will search, sort or autocomplete it, and nobody can type it to find you.

Only A–Z, a–z and 0–9

The map covers sixty-two characters and the space. Everything else passes through exactly as typed, which has one consequence worth planning around.

Accented letters do not glitch. Type café and you get c̵̺̻̈̊́ä̵̺̻̊́f̵̺̻̈̊́é — the é arrives clean because é is its own character and is not in the map. The same goes for ñ, ü, å and every other precomposed letter, and for anything in Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese or Korean.

Punctuation does not glitch either. An apostrophe, a full stop or an exclamation mark stands clean at the end of a glitched word.

So this works as intended for English and for languages written in unaccented Latin letters, and produces a half-converted line for most others. If you need a non-English word glitched, the workaround is to strip the accents first — though that changes the word.

Does It Work Everywhere?

It is standard Unicode, so any device that can display text can display it. What varies is not whether it works but how far the marks are allowed to reach.

  • Rendering — every platform stacks the marks slightly differently, so the same string sits taller on one device than another. Nothing is lost; the shape shifts.
  • Line spacing — marks extend above and below the line, and some apps clip them at the boundary of the text box rather than growing the line to fit.
  • Length caps — the most common failure by far, and the reason a Discord or Roblox name gets rejected. Seven code points per character adds up long before the text looks long.
  • Normalisation — a field that normalises text on save can reorder or drop combining marks, so a name can be accepted and then appear plain afterwards.

The reliable test is to paste into the actual destination and look, rather than trusting the preview here.

Is It Free?

Free, with nothing attached — no account, no export cap, no watermark, and nothing to install. Unlike the image-based glitch tools in this category, there is no render queue and no download step: the conversion is a lookup table running in your browser, so what you type is never sent anywhere.

More Distorted Text Styles

For related effects, try Zalgo for ć̶̣̂̈ọ̶́̂̈ṛ̶́̂̈ṛ̶́̂̈ụ̶́̂̈ṕ̶̣̂̈ṭ̶́̂̈ẹ̶́̂̈ḍ̶́̂̈, Shaky for the lighter ẁ́è́ì́r̀́d̀́, or Matrix Style, which is not a mark stack at all — it swaps letters for halfwidth katakana: トイステオリテネト.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the glitch text generator work?

The glitch text generator uses Unicode combining diacritical marks that overlay on base characters. These marks stack to create the corrupted text appearance—more marks mean more glitchy text chaos. It's not a font but character manipulation that works everywhere Unicode is supported.

Can I use glitch text on Roblox?

Yes! The glitch text generator Roblox output works for display names and chat. Copy the weird text directly and paste into Roblox. Some heavy glitch font effects may get filtered, so test lighter distorted text if needed.

Why does my glitch text look different on some platforms?

Different apps and operating systems render combining marks differently. Your glitchy text may appear more or less intense depending on the platform's font rendering. The weird font generator output is consistent, but display varies.

Is glitch text copy and paste safe to use?

Yes, the glitch letters are standard Unicode characters, not code or scripts. The corrupted text generator creates purely visual effects using legitimate character combinations.

Can I control the glitch intensity?

Most glitch text gen tools offer intensity controls. Light settings add few combining marks for subtle weird text, while maximum settings create heavily distorted text. Start light and increase until you achieve your desired glitch font effect.
